Shot Put: Medicine Ball Baby Step Drill

The med ball baby step drill is used in the teaching progression for beginning shot put throwers showing the athletes how to be active on the right foot in the middle of the circle. The athlete should overstep the middle of the circle by 6 inches then pull the right foot underneath while keeping the shoulders back. Once the right foot then hits the ground, flick the heel out and turn the right foot and hip as aggressively as possible.
