Pole Vault: 1 and 1/2 Back Flip Drill
This is a one and a half back flip drill used for more experienced pole vaulters. You can see here that the athlete is trying to learn how to create pressure and momentum swinging aggressively through their top hand and their back foot. Once the athlete gets to the point where they are completely upside down aggressively, they let go of the pole and complete a one-and-a-half backflip landing back on their back into the pit. We try to avoid landing on our feet to avoid ankle injuries at all times.
