Long Jump: 20-10-10 Drill
This is the 20-10-10 drill used in developing the full approach in the long jump. Beginning level athletes can condense this to a 15-10-10 drill. The athlete is driving to the first cone, transitioning up between the first and the second cone, and then focusing on the frequency in foot turn over between the second and the third cone. Mark the athletes 16th step finding a cluster of pieces of tape that are consistent and measure that distance. A 12 or 14 step approach may be more appropriate for beginning level athletes.
