How to Pole Vault: 4 Step Walking Plant Drill

This is a 4 step walking pole drop drill, a drill used for the pole vault. This drill is essential for all beginning level pole vaulters. You can see here on the athletes second-to-last step that they have the pole parallel to the ground and completely above their waist. As their last step begins to hit the ground they are then going to extend both of their hands up word while dropping the tip into the box. Once again, two things that we are really watching for on this drill. Having the pole to the parallel position on the second to last step and above the waist and the hands completely extended above the head when the pole tip hits the ground.
