High Jump: Back Flip with Spotter Drill

This is teaching progression of the backflip while using a spotter to develop comfort for the athlete. The spotter is going to stand with the right hand on the lower back of the athlete, with the left hand underneath their left hamstring. On the count of three, the spotter will lift the athletes legs over their head using the right hand to stabilize the athlete. This exercise should only be performed on a soft surface, such as the high jump pit.
