This gap throw drill is teaching the athlete to get the right leg across effectively, by having the visual cue of trying to cover that one meter gap. Coming from the simple 3 step forces the athlete to push aggressively off the left foot throwing the right foot across and getting back to the left foot before initiating the throw. This gap drill promotes the hips running away and creating separation in the body.
