Discus: South African Line Drill
The is a South African line drill with a cone in the hand, a drill used for the discus. This drill teaches the athlete to run away from object in their hand while moving in a linear direction across the discus circle. Using a line is a great reference point in teaching an athlete how to land in a power position properly. Create a heel-toe relationship with the right foot on the line and the left foot approximately one foot back so the athlete has a power position to clear the hips in the front of the discus ring.
